Gone are the days of the easy hair cut. When you walked in sat down and 10 minutes later you walked out with shorter hair. This morning it took me 1/2 an hour to get my hair cut. They refused to cut it as was because they didn't know whether it was clean or not (i would have thought that would have been apparent by looking at it...i washed my hair last night) As a result I had to get my hair washed before they would consider doing anything to it. I guess the good thing was that while washing I got to sit in a massaging chair which believe it or not massaged in time to the music they were playing at the time. And if they hadn't played madonna for the entire time i was in there i'm sure i would have appreciated the sentiment more.
In addition to this i had a 10 minute argument with the hair dresser over how to cut MY hair. I would have thought I should have had some say in how I wanted it cut seeing as I (as far as I know) have complete ownership of my hair and will have to live with the results. No I don't want a side fringe no mattter how fashionable you think they are. And yes I do want to take some length off.
All for $27. (No i didn't pay for the wash because I didn't want or need it to start off with) I remember when i was young it used to cost me $9 to get my hair cut. Not because i had friends in high places or because i had that nifty student discount or anything like that...soley because that was the price with out the inflation and all that other crap.
grr...not happy!

I guess you won't be going back there again then.
There's a great little place in Prospect I go sometimes when it's too difficult getting to my normal hair dresser. Last time I went there they remembered me from the time before (must have been about a year ago) and even how I had my hair cut then. Prices were about average (for an ordinary bloke haircut - nothing fancy, just making it shorter).
Or find somewhere with people you know (or get to know them well).
since when were haircuts easy... i thank you pez for venting your spleen about this major issue... although evidently it is a sensitive issue for the more sensitive of the sexes....
I get my hair done with a family friend - do you remember Mandy Burns from Crestwood PS? She does mine for $15 cut, and did my formal hair, etc etc... with foils and that for $20 max.... ok so - its short hair, but she doesnt charge much for long either - and cuts from her house in kellyville... ill give u her number...
BUT - i hear ur pain... hairdressers can make life waay too complex when all you need is a simple cut - NO I dont want to look like whoever the hottest celebrity that week is, i still wanna look like me, just with shorter hair!
*sings... you're not the boss of me now....
jsut because the have a tafe certificate to say they know how to wield a pair of scissors doesnt mean suggesting a side frings is going to go down any better. When I get a uni degree which means i can teach others to hold scissors (ok admittedly for different purposes, but ok - the onject is the same) I will tell them where to put their side fringe, and it wont b on my head
AS i said - i feel your pain... i also feel rather empowered now i have gone out in sympathy... i think i need to go and lie down...
yeah, i don't get the subtleties at all. (no sarcasm.)
